Wabi Sabi Warehouse seeks gallery and studio manager with endless energy, sustained intellectual fortitude and strong fingers. The "GSM" will work closely with Studio Overlord "Saint 43" to curate exhibitions for the 2011 calendar year. The GSM will also be responsible for basic studio upkeep and maintenance. This is a part-time position with a small base salary and an additional percentage of gallery sales. Prospective GSMs should have exhibition and event planning experience and be familiar with local artists. GSM candidates should have reliable transportation and be self-motivated and outgoing. The GSM will be expected to work at least 20 hours per month (five hours per week) and will be responsible for overseeing volunteers and feeding Nevi the chicken. 'WheelieBob' and 'Death Be Not Plastic' at Scrapel Hill

Scrapel Hill is a juried public art exhibition at the University Mall in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The 22 included works are created from recycled materials, and will be on display through November 18th, 2010. Part of the exhibition programming includes workshops by this year’s juror, Santa Fe, NM artist Nancy Judd who transforms trash into elegant couture fashions and showcases the Recycle Runway Collection in airport exhibitions, museums, malls, class rooms and media outlets around the nation to inspire individuals to recycle, conserve resources, and prevent pollution. Her elegant designs have been commissioned by Coca-Cola, Target, and Toyota. www.townofchapelhill.org

Handmade Puppet Dreams at IAC!

Wabi Sabi Warehouse will host ‘Handmade Puppet Dreams’, an exhibition of contemporary puppets curated by Heather Henson. As part of the 2010 Port City Puppet Festival, the Wabi Sabi Warehouse exhibition features a selection of cutting-edge puppets and sets featured in the Handmade Puppet Dreams film series. The film series will be screened across the street at Jengo’s Playhouse.

Showcasing a new generation of puppeteers, these short films run the gamut from marionettes to finger puppets to paper cutouts. Recent awards include “The Best Puppet Film” at The World Puppet Festival in Prague and a 2009 “UNIMA Citation of Excellence." The series has entertained audiences in the US as well as France, Czech Republic, India, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico and Israel.
Handmade Puppet Dreams is a compilation of contemporary artisans who carefully weave their craft of film-making and puppetry into their work, building their visions, and breathing life into their dreams.
